I enjoyed going to parts of Tokyo I had not been to before or did not plan on going to.

Victoria from Fall 2022

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I really enjoyed our culture class with the American program, as well as the day trip we took to Kanagoe in October. I liked getting to see new things with my own eyes and experience everything firsthand.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The most productive as far as language learning was likely the in-class conversations and essays. I think composition was very important and challenging. I really can't think of a least interesting.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

small group conversations and reading material is probably the most helpful in understanding and learning the best.

Any suggestions for improving class activities or materials?

More challenging, longer conversations. More natural ideas and questions that touch on grammar from many parts of the semester.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

I enjoyed going to parts of Tokyo I had not been to before or did not plan on going to. I leaned more about the history of the city and how various parts of it came to be.

Anything you especially liked in the living arrangements? Any problems you experienced?

I liked that all of the important things were close by, as well as the privacy of the rooms.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Pack very lightly, there is plenty of shopping to do here so it is best to come with less!

Testimonials

In general, I think the KCP program is really great and I’m very glad I decided to do it. It was a lot of work, but I learned a lot, met many interesting people from all over the world, and got to have a very different experience of Japan than the normal tourist.
